During the 1990’s, Mr. Marquis gained considerable workout and repositioning experience in the OREO Asset Management Department of Citicorp Real Estate. At Citicorp, Rick worked with multiple product types, including office, retail, industrial, and multifamily. His most notable project was Two California Plaza, a 1.3 million square foot high-rise office and retail tower, located in Downtown Los Angeles, California.
After leaving Citicorp, but prior to founding RMC Realty Advisors, Rick worked for both institutional and entrepreneurial enterprises in asset management roles and as head of in-house property management departments.
Rick earned his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and his BS cum laude in Business Administration from California State University, Northridge. Mr. Marquis is also a Real Estate Broker and a Certified Public Accountant in the State of California.

What is the difference between an asset manager and a property manager? Aren’t they one in the same?
Both asset managers (investment advisors) and property managers play important, but separate roles in their oversight of real property. Property Managers are typically tasked with day to day oversight of the assets, such collection of rent, payment of operating expenses, financial reporting, and preparation of the annual operating budgets. In contrast, the Asset Manager is responsible for formulating and implementing the strategic management, leasing, and eventual disposition plans for each property. The asset manager also forecasts monthly cash flow and owner distributions, plus works directly with the property’s leasing team to set market rents and negotiate lease transactions with tenants.
